Rosie Steiff SOLD

Rosie is a whimsical little Steiff bear measuring just 23cm (9″) high c.1908 (no button). She’s endearingly-saggy, since much of her woodwool & kapok stuffing have disintegrated in her torso and limbs and, to a lesser degree, her head too.

All original, with shoebutton eyes and felt pads (a small patch to each paw), Rosie’s nose and mouth stitching were loved away moons ago, and she’s deceptively worn with old repairs. The backing cloth to her eyes has been treated with a hard substance, along with her cute upturned muzzle, which has a small slit to the right hand side.

There’s also a few stitches to the base of her head at the back, and both arms have stitches too, hidden by her fur, along with a small insert to the back of her left leg at the top.

Luckily, Rosie is still blessed with heaps of gold mohair, which is slightly faded at the front. A broken squeaker can be felt in her tummy, but her joints work fine. Overall, this darling teddy is a furry bundle of sweet joy, and wears her lace-trimmed cotton onesie, with a very old felt hat, decorated with pale green ribbon and a rose. She also carries a handmade felt bag.
