Dean’s Childsplay nightcase bear

A soft-stuffed and cuddly, white Dean’s Rag Book Childsplay Toys nightcase bear with leg tag c. late 1950s/early 60s. Called Primrose, she’s made of fully-washable Bri-Nylon, and was introduced in direct competition to similar Wendy Boston bears.

Unjointed, and designed for sitting, Primrose is 46cms (18″) long to the tips of her padded ears, and has original, plastic lock-in safety eyes, which Dean’s had actually patented in 1948, but only started using in the late 50s.

Primrose also has a black-embroidered nose and mouth, with a clipped muzzle showing some loss of fur. At the back there’s a nylon zipper to access her storage compartment. This is lined with white cotton linen and in very good condition.

Dressed by her owner, Primrose wears a pretty pink dress and bloomers, with a faux leather pink crossbody bag, for holding her bits ‘n bobs. She’s a very girl bear!
