Alice is a 1930s Chad Valley bear with the most beautiful face, and measures 38cm (15″) tall. She’s woodwool-filled (with a little settlement to her limbs), and has original, bulbous-bound nose stitching characteristic of the era, along with a black sewn mouth.

Her brown rexine pads show some surface wear, while those gorgeous, large amber glass eyes are old replacements. Alice’s squeaker no longer works, but her joints are fine and, despite some bald and thinning areas, she’s retained a good overall covering of gold mohair.

With her large flat ears and beguiling expression, Alice is a really enchanting teddy bear. Dressed by her owner, Alice wears a vintage cotton dress embroidered with tiny rosebuds, and a fully-lined, fine cotton needlecord lace-trimmed coat. Her pretty outfit is accessorised with an old pink glass teddy bear pendant, and mother-of-pearl feathered brooch.
