A charming pair of small Steiff bears, with silver-scripted ear buttons, mostly hidden by their fur c.1950s. Called Nixie & Erwin (German names meaning Water Fairy and Friend of the Sea respectively), they’re all original, and woodwool-stuffed, and also available individually as follows:

Nixie is a padless Steiff ted measuring 13cm (5″) tall. Made of faded yellow-maize mohair, she has back-painted brown glass eyes, with a black-embroidered nose and mouth. Nixie’s joints work fine, and she’s kept pretty much all of her fur with minor thinning. This sweet little bear is dressed in a handmade felt sailor top, fastening with pearly pink anchor buttons. Erwin is a bonny brown mohair Steiff, measuring 17cm (6.75″) high. He has back-painted amber glass eyes, with a black-stitched nose, mouth, and claws. Made without paw pads, his foot ones are felt and in minty condition. His squeaker has worn out, but his joints work fine. This cute character has an excellent coat of fur, and wears a handmade felt sailor jacket, with a detachable collar cut from a larger vintage one.  PRICE: £135
