The Owl and the Bessy Cow went to sea in a striped green boat. They took some honey, and plenty of money, wrapped up in a one-pound note. The Owl looked up at the stars above, and sang to a small guitar. “O lovely Bessy! O Bessy, my love, what a beautiful moo cow you are, you are, you are! What a beautiful Bessy you are!”
Bessy said to the Owl, “You elegant fowl! How charmingly sweet you sing! O let us be married! too long we have tarried: but what shall we do for a ring?” They sailed away, for a year and a day, and are still all at sea. Their pound and two pence just isn’t enough money, so they may have to sell their pot of honey, to buy that elusive ring!
