A very pretty, 1930s Merrythought bear, with rusted ear-button and embroidered footlabel. Merrilees is all original, and 46 cms (18″) tall.

Her gold mohair has faded to blonde, and there’s some patchy baldness. However, she’s a lovely sturdy ted, with a heart-warming smile.

Merrilees is wearing her hand-knitted lemon cardi and floral cotton print pants, with shabby-chic, hand-dyed rose patterned neck ribbon.

My name is Old English, meaning ‘From St. Mary’s Field.’ I think this is a place in London, so that must be where I come from!

Character info

Merrilees Merrythought bear c.1930s, still retains her ear-button though it’s totally rusted and unreadable. Her embroidered foot-label is also intact, and she’s kept all her original features, including amber glass eyes (they’ve been glued in), and a black-stitched nose and mouth.

Stuffed with kapok, Merrilees’ joints all work fine, though her head is a tad wobbly.  She still has plenty of fur, with most loss to the front of her torso. Her felt pads are worn with various repairs and a few holes, but she’s a good strong bear with an irresistible smile.

This very pretty ted is wearing her cheerful spring lemon cardi with floral-print pants, and rose-patterned neck ribbon.
