An unusual, vintage American kangaroo made of short bristle mohair and fluffy grey plush. Poor Mathilda had lost her baby, and was so upset we created a primitive replacement for her pouch. Though Buckaroo looks more like an extra terrestial, LOL! But she’s happily adopted him, and is now a contented mum.
Mathilda is unjointed and measures 41 cms (16″) high. She’s stuffed with kapok and has brown button eyes with embroidered brows. Her nose and mouth are also embroidered in black thread, with a red stitched tongue.
The stuffing has settled a little in her legs, but she can still stand up. She’s in good overall condition and is wearing her lace neck-ribbon pinned with a vintage brooch. Buckaroo is made of felt and has yet to grow a tail and legs! One way or another they’re a charming couple.
I was bereft when I lost my baby, while hopping and jumping around.
One minute he was safe in my pouch, and then when I ground to a halt, he suddenly wasn’t there.
I searched and searched for my baby, but he was nowhere to be seen, the little tinker.
But now I have a new baby to look after. He looks a bit strange, but he’s grown on me!
