A beautiful, five-way jointed original Steiff Kitty cat c.1949-64. Although missing his ear-button, Kitty is in super condition, and has large green glass eyes and a peach embroidered nose, mouth and claws.
He’s one of the larger sizes, at 23 cms (9″) long from nose to tail, and is woodwool-stuffed. Kitty was the only cat to be produced by Steiff with a jointed head and legs, and later versions had plastic eyes up to 1972.
Kitty’s kept virtually all of his creamy/white mohair which has striking black airbrushed stripes. He’s a tip-top puss with the most adorable face, and is wearing his turquoise neck ribbon with a silvertone bell (not original).
I’m reading a fascinating book of ‘Cat Selfies’, and fancy having a go myself. So I’m practising a few poses, to decide which ones make me look the most cute. I don’t actually own a mobile, so I’ll need to borrow one, and come up with an amusing caption to accompany my selfie.
My favourite in the book is ‘Why haven’t they made keypads that are big enough for paws yet?’ Now that gives me pause for thought!
