This cute little white Steiff ted is completely bald, yet retains his earbutton c.1920s. It’s very rusted, but the Steiff name can still be seen.
Pappy is 27 cms (10.5″) tall, and stuffed with woodwool. His back-painted glass eyes appear original, though the right one is slightly smaller. In the past, Pappy’s nose and mouth have been re-sewn, and his felt pads covered in tweedy fabric.
All his joints work fine, but his squeaker has worn out. There’s a tiny area of wear to the back of one paw, otherwise Pappy is a lovely sturdy ted. He’s wearing his sweet baby blue jacket, which seems to have attracted a blue butterfly!
It’s true, while having my photos taken, this bright blue butterfly landed on my jacket. It maybe thought I was a giant butterfly!
Anyway, I thought it would be a good idea to catch it, so teased it onto my paw. It fluttered about, but finally I managed to persuade it into the cage, so I could sit and admire it for a while.
Then I decided i’d better release it, and would you believe it flew back onto my jacket! So I think I’m stuck with it. My name by the way is short for Papillon, which is French for butterfly.
